Going Local

There is a huge movement in Austin to eat and buy "local". This means dining at restaurants featuring produce and meat from local farms, and purchasing groceries in the same manner.

The idea behind eating local is to support your local economy. Buying foods produced locally emit a smaller carbon footprint, because the items do not have to travel very far. Buying local also means putting your hard earned money right back into the area in which you live.

Items indigenous to many areas within the grand ole USA:
Beer
Vegetables
Fruit
Eggs
Liquor
Wine

Many herbs, vegetables, and fruits are easy to grow at home. It becomes difficult to nurture many at once, but having a few herbs in a window garden, or a rosemary bush in the front yard, is much easier.

Here's to going local & growing local, wherever you may live.
